This is a wonderful opportunity to join a collaborative and caring wellbeing team where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people as one of our part-time School Psychologists.

Who are we?

Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta is an independent Catholic school for girls, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889 and entrusted to Mercy Partners in 2021. Grounded in the Mercy values of Compassion, Excellence, Justice and Service, the College nurtures students and staff as visionary leaders and compassionate changemakers. Mercy is expressed as empathy and love in action, within a community where academic learning and faith flourish together.

The opportunity

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a collaborative and dedicated wellbeing team committed to supporting students at OLMC. The primary purpose of this role is to promote student welfare, wellbeing and integration within the College community through the delivery of a proactive and supportive counselling service, and through collaborative partnerships with teaching staff to support student wellbeing throughout their Mercy education.

The successful applicant will play a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures the academic, social and emotional development of every student. This opportunity may also suit a professional currently working in private practice who is seeking to supplement their existing work, offering the chance to contribute their expertise within a school setting while earning additional income.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience as a registered psychologist.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or experience working with adolescents (preferably in an education environment).
  • Eligibility for registration as a Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience facilitating proactive and preventative practices and initiatives that promote social, emotional and educational development and the mental health and wellbeing of all students.
  • Experience in delivering education programs for staff.
  • Effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the requirements relating to privacy, confidentiality and Child Protection.
  • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
  • Commitment to actively supporting and participating in the life of the College, including its Catholic mission and Mercy values.
